Life Upended While Living In Malaysia
The idea of a second home
In contrast to having your life upended, consider the marketing advertisement for the retirement program under the Malaysia MM2H program on their homepage reads as follows:
Malaysia My Second Home Program
Malaysia is a beautiful country that’s fast becoming one of the most fascinating second homes in South East Asia! It can offer an ideal difference in almost all aspects of your life. A peaceful residential haven, a fertile investment climate, diverse culture, harmony, safety. With natural and man-made wonders, and unmatched scope for progress.
The Time Is Now… The Place Is Malaysia
Malaysia My Second Home Program is an initiative promoted and supported by the Government of Malaysia. It is to allow people from all over the world who fulfil certain criteria, to stay in Malaysia. The stay is as long as possible on a social visit pass with a multiple entry visa. The MM2H visa permit is initially for a period of ten (10) years and is renewable.
Life upended instead of a tranquil future retirement plan
With that I started to take a look at this program as I planned for my retirement days ahead.
But never for the life of me that I would have my life upended a few years down the road. In mid 2017 to early 2018 period, I ended up being targeted by a rogue immigration officer. He has craftily inserted himself into my life through his illicit relationship with a Malaysian woman whom I was helping.
It was in the year 2010 when I put in my application for the MM2H program. My first MM2H visa was issued from November 2010 till May 2016 for a five year period. A subsequent renewal for another 5-year took the visa period from February 2016 to November 2020
And so I have since that time became a resident of Malaysia staying in the nearby Johor state. Staying in Johor makes it convenient for me to go back into my own country, Singapore. When necessary to goes back, it is just a drive across the causeway.
Start of a harsh new season
It has been nearly two over years since that fateful day in Feb 2018 that I came to grief. It was a period that I had to lived through many perils because my MM2H visa was revoked. Apart from that, I was blacklisted from entering into the country for life.
So going from here will be stories and tales of the pitfalls and the perils that befell me. Such perils will describe the horrors, injustices, corruptions and dangers that happened. It can entrap foreigners should they decide to be in Malaysia regardless of your immigration status. This is my first party account and experiences, however unfortunate that it had happened to me.
This is a blog that will leave out talking about the many good things about this beautiful country. Generally there are lots of lovely people, undeniably lots of lovely places of interest and the good food. So it is important for readers to note that this is not an anti-Malaysia per se blog. It is written for the purpose of bringing awareness to the perils one could be exposed. Any foreigners should consider all these should one decides to retires or stay long term in Malaysia.
