Interview with Malaysiakini News Media
Selection of comments from the Malaysian public

Lend my voice for others similarly oppressed
By a stroke of divine providence, I came across a news article of related interest. This was about some Chinese nationals who were detained in Pekan Nanas Immigration Depot. They had suffered some terrible ordeals at the hands of the Malaysia Immigration authorities.
This was similar to what I had previously experienced with my detention inside Pekan Nanas Depot. As it was a similar experience we therefore shared a common experience. That goes without saying that we experienced the same treatment from those immigrations officers and guards.
The news article on these Chinese nationals was on the inhumane and cruel treatment they had suffered. They were detained over the few months by the Malaysian Immigration authorities. They had made allegations such as corruptions, the poor health and hygiene conditions and lack of medical care. These were however flatly denied by the Malaysian Home Minister.
So I reached out to Malaysiakini on whether they would be interested to hears from me on my experiences.
Hence an interview with me that was conducted by a journalist from Malaysiakini was the basis for two news articles. These two news articles were subsequently published on July 26th and July 27th of 2022.
The two news articles reproduced below
I am thankful that the journalist has produced her articles as accurate as what had been presented to her. The beauty of the whole article – she beautifully condensed what was a long interview into these two articles. Thus these two news articles carried all the major points of my experience from the whole saga with the Malaysian Immigration. She has clearly presented in a clear and concise manner to readers.
Some feedbacks and comments from readers to the two articles as below:
“It’s really well written and documented. and it’s really helpful that the information corroborates with other accounts”
Quote by a close witness of whole saga.
“I liked how the articles are written – very chronological and factual”
Quote by a tenacious-fighter-for-justice friend.
“Wow, God used your pain to help many, truth does prevail.”
Quote by a MM2H participant Singaporean neighbour in Malaysia.
“Praise God! We are vessels of His love, we are also vessels of His voice!”
Quote by a Church leader.
Articles’ purpose
There has been countless news and reports of the atrocious acts of the Malaysian Immigration all along. Many of these reports were denied by the Malaysian government that there is cruel and inhumane treatments by Malaysian Immigration authorities.
The purpose of these two articles is to let the Malaysian public be aware of what has been well shrouded behind high walls and hides away in secluded corner. The more of such witness’s testimony that corroborates with other witnesses’ testimonies, the more the Malaysian public would believed the foreigners rather than the government and Immigration DG’s denials.
More of such witness’ testimonies also helps lawyers and the courts have deeper insights into victims’ cases brought against the Immigration DG. This will helps them to render fair justice when such cases were brought before the courts. This is especially so when they could understand that there is a nameless and faceless SOP that hampers emergency treatment and the “no accountability” of individual in the event of detainee’s death.
It is hoped that there will be more international human rights NGOs and human rights activists to seek redress and justice for the many past victims of Malaysian Immigration authorities’ heinous atrocities.
The government should investigates Immigration officers upon receiving police reports such as these four police reports made against them.
